Hello again!  Well it's been an extremely busy month here at Little Big Tree.  Most notably, we have released our Troublesome Teens CD's, created our first set of stamps and been to the NEC trade show.

For me the most exciting thing really has to be the development of our first set of stamps.   I've been crafting a lot recently I've found a passion for stamping.  I don't know why - I just love it.  So with this in mind I decided Little Big Tree should make it's own range.  So I did some designs and sent the off for manufacture and they have come back beautifully.  I'm really, really pleased with them.  They are available for sale now and will be featuring in the June edition of Craft Stamper magazine.

I'm working on more designs as we speak and, fingers crossed, I will also carve out some time to actually play with them properly!

On another note.  Our latest CD's Troublesome Teens girls and boys editions have been released and are also availble on our website.  These CD's were loads of fun to create and are packed with loads of bright, funky artwork for the young at heart.  There are a few card examples I've made in the gallery with these CD's for you to look at.  I'll be making alot more very soon too so keep an eye out.
Troublesome Teens

I have some exciting news coming up for those of you who love digi crafting.  I can't tell you what it is just yet but I will VERY soon!

Well thats a quick update for now.  I'll be back soon with more news.

Happy Crafting

Rebecca

p.s. let me know what goodies you got at the NEC - although I'm alittle jealous I really want to know!

Using Craft Social

Posted by: Rebecca Hayley

Rebecca Hayley

Hello,

Let me start by saying a big thanks to everyone who's joined us so far.  This site is still brand spanking new and we hope it'll grow and grow with everyones support.  I'd like to let everyone know that they are free to talk about whatever they want on Craft Social.  It doesn't matter if you're not a CD ROM user or that you've never brought a Little Big Tree product.

This is a craft social network... and it is designed to bring crafters together from all corners of the internet.  A crafting home!

The Craft Social isn't here to sell you stuff - it's simply for you to use in whatever way you choose.  Please use the forums to start any kind of discussion you want, about any kind of product you wish.  There are no strings attached - honest.  We desperately needed a new website anyway and Tim found out he could do all this cool stuff and we thought - why not!

So how do you use it then?  Where do I start!

  • Firstly you can set up your profile to tell everyone about yourself and what interests you.
  • You can create albums of photos and decide if you want to keep them private or share them by making them public.  If you make them public other Craft Social members will be able to see them in the Craft Social gallery and comment on them.
  • You can add status updates (a lot like Facebook) which tells people what you're working on right now or simply to state how much you hate Mondays.
  • If you like something someone has to say or you know them already you can send other members a friends request. Once you have friends you can e-mail them directly - we're even working on an instant messaging feature so you can chat live to them!

What is the best way of meeting new people here?

The forums are a bit bare right now and we'd like people to jump in and get the ball rolling.  At the moment it feels like a party and everyones waiting for the 1st person to get on the dance floor!  I can pretty much guarantee you'll get responses to any new threads you start.

If you want to start a new thread (discussion) simply click on one of the topics and you'll see a little green tab that says 'new thread'  ...just click that, type what you want to say and post!  Simple.

Groups

You can set groups up for anything (but ideally craft related).  You can make your groups public (meaning anyone can join) or private (meaning others can only join by invitation).

Groups are great if you want to talk about something specific.

As an example: If you're into ATC's you can start or join an ATC group. Anyone in, or joining this group will be into creating ATC's... so there will always be at least one thing you have in common!  As a part of this group you can arrange ATC swaps, challenges, chat about whats going on, create group photo albums to share your work and even create an events shedule with dates, information and locations.

Events

are amazing.

You can create an event just for you and your friends (by invite), or for a group or open to everyone.

If you're part of a group you can create an events list that lets everyone know what, where and when.

As an example a group has just been set up called "Art Journaling Prompts".  If that group wanted to, they could create an event schedule to remind everyone involved...

  • what the current theme is
  • what the rules are
  • or maybe a deadline for a challenge

If you're arranging a get together, enter the address and postcode for the event page to show the location on a Google Map!

I'll put all of this info into the support section  so you can refer back to it at any point.

I'll leave it at that for now as there's quite a lot to read.  I'm currently trying to do some demonstration videos, which is a lot harder than you'd think!  When they get posted please be gentle with me and bear in mind that although it sounds like i'm chatting to you i'm actually in a room on my own talking to myself!  I feel like a proper plonker!

Take care for now

Rebecca

Little Big Tree's 1st ever blog!

Posted by: Rebecca Hayley

Rebecca Hayley

Hello And Welcome to the first blog by Little Big Tree.  If you're familiar with us already you'll have probably noticed that our web site has had quite an extensive face lift.  Over the next few weeks we'll be working very hard on our end to bulk this web-site out with lots of stuff we hope you'll find usefull.

Before I get into all that though i'll first take a minute out to introduce myself.  My name is Rebecca and i've been working with Little Big Tree for about 18 months.  Little Big Tree was initially created as a hobby business by Kris and Tim with Jake joining soon after.  I'm the newest member of the team and started out by helping Kris with the artwork and have just started working with them full time - finally getting paid!

In the beginning I was totally unaware that papercrafting even existed - scrapbooking?  Whats that?  Why would people make cards when you can buy them in ASDA?  I just didn't get it - until I saw some of the cards that people had made using the Wings and Flowers CD for a competition, WOW.  After that I was hooked.  Kris already had a very small craft stash which I took full advantage of and it wasn't long before I was making regular trips to my local craft shop and, quite honestly, buying more stuff than I could ever possibly use.  Now a craft room sits where the guest bedroom used to be, oops!

What I'd really like to do in this blog and on the website is share with you everything i've learnt and will be learning.  By no means am I a crafting guru but I do know one or two and i'll be picking their brains to bring you as much info as possible.  It's a big task but what i'm going to try and do is write about all the major techniques and tools out there and present them to you briefly in this blog and more comprehensively in the Knowledge Base section on the website with video demonstrations.  The intention is that hopefully some of you will be able to learn along with me, i'll be making plenty of mistakes and telling you what to watch out for!

I do tend to waffle on sometimes so as much as I'd like to keep this blog relevant and informative i'm sure i'll have the occasional moan about the recession, my ever expanding bottom (and the impending mega diet), how many chocolates the dog stole this week (wrappers and all) and why I cant seen to get yorkshire puddings to rise in that blasted oven.  I'll go away now and leave you in peace but i'll be back soon with some info on how to use our website and what the Craft Social thing is all about.

Take care

Rebecca
